Restoring Dignity

A paramount objective of HEART for Widows International is ensuring the welfare of neglected widows who roam the streets. In developing countries, jobless widows with health issues are often left to face their challenges alone. Our "Hope Restoration" programs in India, Nigeria, Nepal, and Rwanda provide immediate relief—rice, soap, and clothing—to put smiles back on faces.

A prime example occurred in the Nellore district of India. Following a severe drought in 2016, the local widows faced a life threatening water shortage. In response to their urgent plea, we dug a well for the community, restoring a vital resource for life.

Building Homes and Communities

Housing: Data clearly shows that homelessness is a crisis for widows in Asia and Africa. Many live in slums or dilapidated shacks. We prioritize building befitting homes for these women, funded by heartfelt donations.

Community: To reduce the menace of loneliness and emotional turbulence, we established "Communities of Widows." These groups meet weekly to talk, share ideas, and learn skills like bead making, basket weaving, and tie dye. The results are affirmative: goods are sold in local markets, transforming vulnerable women into self reliant entrepreneurs.
